Sacramento International Airport Parking

Sacramento International Airport has a total of 17,500 parking spaces available for their visitors and guests divided into several different parking options in varying prices depending on whether it is a parking garage or open air parking, and the proximity to the airport terminals.

Parking at SMF

General information

Cash payments – It is not possible to pay with cash in the cashier booths in the separate parking lots, only card payments are available there. However, there are cash payment kiosks located in a few places in both terminals.

Credit cards accepted for payment are Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express.

Coming from Terminal B the cash payment kiosks are located on level 5 in lobby C of the parking garage and outside Door 1 at the cross-walk to the Hourly Lot.

Coming from Terminal A the cash payment kiosks are located on level 1 in lobbies C and D and on level 3 in lobby C in the parking garage.

Parking is available on a first come, first served basis with no possibility to reserve a space in advance. If a parking lot or garage becomes full and closes an alternative lot must be selected for the rate of that parking lot. It is recommended to arrive early to allow time to park if an alternative is necessary.

Oversized vehicles, vehicles more than 21 feet long, are charged double the rate posted for the parking lot/garage. The vertical clearance for the parking garage is 8 feet 2 inches.

Disability Parking

Persons with disabilities may park in the designated spaces in any of the parking lots at the normal rate. It is required to have a valid disabled license plate or placard to be allowed to park in these spaces.

The shuttle buses are lift-equipped, although the Hourly Parking and the Garage do not provide shuttle buses as they are located close to one or more of the airport’s terminals so make sure to choose a parking option that suits your needs.

Electric Vehicle Charging Stations

EV (electric vehicle) charging stations are available in the Parking Garage, the Daily Lot as well as the Free Waiting Area. There are signs showing the way.

The use of the charging stations is for free with standard parking fees applying and they are available on a first come, first serve basis.

There are two level 2 EV charging stations available on each floor of the garage, located near the Terminal A elevators, and four are available in the Daily Lot as well as one paddle charge unit for older model Toyota RAV4 and related vehicles.

There are 12 level 1 EV charging stations located near the Terminal B elevators in the parking garage with 2 each on floors 2-6, plus 2 more on floor 5 in the parking spaces for disabled persons.

Also, SMUD operates two level 2 charging stations and one DC Fast Charger in the Free Waiting Area for a fee.

Hourly Parking – Terminal B

Terminal B Hourly Parking is designed for short stays of up to a few hours and this is the best place to park when picking up passengers or when accompanying a passenger before the security control ahead of their departure from the airport.

This parking lot is, as the name suggests, closest to Terminal B.

The fee for parking here is $2 per every 30 min period started, or a maximum $29 per day. Other parking alternatives are more cost effective for stays longer than a few hours.

Daily Parking – Parking Garage, Terminals A and B

The Parking Garage is a covered parking option with direct pedestrian access to the terminals through pedestrian bridges located on the 3d floor of the Garage to Terminal A and on the 5th floor of the Garage to Terminal B.

The fee for parking here is $2 for each 30 minute period started or a maximum of $18 per day.

Daily Parking – Daily Lot, Terminals A and B

The Daily Lot is an open air parking lot located prior to the garage entrance on Airport Boulevard.

A shuttle service is provided with a 15-20 minutes interval to and from the airport terminal and the parking lot.

The fee for parking here is $2 for each 30 minute period started or a maximum of $12 per day.

Economy Parking – East and West

This parking option can only be paid using a debit or credit card and cash is not an option of payment. A debit/credit card will be entered into the machine when entering the parking area and the same card is to be used for payment when exiting. A ticket will not be dispensed upon entering.

A shuttle service to and from the airport is provided at an interval of 25-30 minutes. It is recommended to account for at least 60 minutes from the time of parking to the time of arriving at the terminal.

The fee for parking in the East Economy Parking is $2 for each 30 minute period started, or $10 maximum per day.

There are no walking paths to or from this parking option, only the shuttle service, as they are the furthest parking option from the terminals.

West Economy Parking is different from all the other parking options on the grounds since it is pre-pay by license plate. This means that customers enter their license plate number and provide their electronic payment option at the pay station located in the bus shelter upon entering the parking lot.

Cell Phone Lot – Free Waiting Area

The airport’s Free Waiting Area is located with easy and convenient access near the Interstate 5 entrance/exit. This is where greeters can wait for arriving travelers to be ready for pick-up without having to spend fuel on driving around or money on parking fees.

Vehicles may not be unattended and there is a three-hour limit on how long a vehicle may wait here.
